SPI's Storm-1 SP16 and SP8 DSPs Named Two of EDN Magazine’s “Hot 100 Products of 2007”

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — January 14, 2008 — Stream Processors, Inc. (SPI), a fabless semiconductor company that is making parallel processing simple, today announced the company has secured two spots in EDN magazine’s annual “Hot 100 Products” list for 2007: the Storm-1 SP16-G160 and the Storm-1 SP8-G80.

EDN magazine’s 9th annual Hot 100 Products of 2007 highlights the products and technologies featured in EDN’s print and Web pages that were considered the most significant and influential in the electronic community.

Highest Performing DSPs in the Industry
When announced in February 2007, SPI’s Storm-1 became the world’s highest performing and most power-efficient DSP family in the industry.  Offering up to 160 GMACS of performance at low cost, both the SP16-160 and SP8-G80 break DSP performance barriers and deliver an attractive, C-programmable, alternative to FPGA, ASSP or ASIC based solutions.

The Storm-1 architecture is ideal for a wide range of applications that benefit from the flexibility of a processor platform, including video surveillance, telepresence, video indexing, transcoding, and multi-function printers.

The Storm-1 family is based on SPI’s patented Stream Processor™ Architecture, designed from ground up to provide designers with a low cost and easy access to next-generation parallel performance. A compiler-managed memory hierarchy, intrinsically load-balanced data-parallelism and integrated C tools, sidestep the unpredictability and low utilization associated with of traditional multi-core systems.
