Storm-1 Development KitDesigned for flexibility and ease-of-use, the Storm-1™ Development Kit supports software development for embedded solutions based on SPI’s Storm-1 family of stream processors.
Features
PCI plug-in or stand-alone operation. Boots from flash and is web configurable.
Configurations include network settings (for example, location of root file system), diagnostics, firmware updates, and sample applications.
Flexible I/O option cards support HD and SD video, audio and generic data inputs and outputs.
Full Linux distribution and BSP source code. Comes with drivers, a streaming media framework, TCP/IP stack with full RTP/RTSP support, embedded webserver and other utilities to support development and evaluation.
SPI’s RapiDev™ tool suite includes all required compilers and debugging tools.
Product brief>
Example ImplementationsThese implementations are example designs based the SPI Storm-1 platform. They are not available for purchase (pls refer to the Storm-1 Development Kit), but SPI can assist customers with design documentation and/or discuss an implementation with one of our partners. Intelligent IP Camera
The IP Camera example implementation assists customers in developing next-generation intelligent IP camera systems. The design is based on a low-cost single-chip implementation using Storm-1™ SP8LP running Linux 2.6. It supports multiple simultaneous codecs (H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG), arbitrary resolutions, sensor processing and analytics, removing the need for separate DSPs for sensor and analytics processing.
Intelligent Video Encoder
The Video Encoder example implementation is based on a Storm-1™ SP16-G160, supporting up to eight D1 input channels of video. High-quality H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression is supported via Gigabit Ethernet output. It offers low cost per channel and compute headroom for added value differentiation, such as noise filtering, image stabilization, tamper detection and encoder control based on analytics.
