Storm-1 Family
Storm-1 Stream Processor Family The Storm-1 platform delivers unprecedented levels of compute performance to drive the latest media and signal applications. A standard, Linux-based ANSI C programming enviroment in a familiar single-core model allows developers to leverage their exisiting software and large body of open source available.
A cost-efficient alternative to fixed-function ASICs and FPGAs, Storm-1 enable designers to adopt a software-driven development model to reduce overall effort and risk.
Benefits and features- Parallel scalable performance → Massive parallelism enables applications to be developed directly in software, eliminating restrictions imposed by fixed-function ASIC/ASSP hardware.
- Ease of programming → SPI's RapiDev™ Tools Suite enables familiar C programming in a single instruction flow. Dramatically reduced effort compared to FPGAs or custom ASICs.
- Integrated solution → Rich I/O set and on-chip Host CPU, supporting up to 16 channels of video, PCI and Gbit Ethernet.
- Power efficiency → Less than 50 μW/MMAC of compute efficiency enables high-density, high-performance applications.
- Standards-based → Linux, ANSI C, and industry-standard 32-bit MIPS architecture with plug-in DSP libraries for a straightforward integration and leveraging of open source.
